  • UNDERSECRETARY MAPAGU OFFICIALLY ASSUMES OFFICE

Undersecretary Reynaldo B. Mapagu formally assumed his new position as the Administrator of the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) during a joint turnover ceremony held on 15 August 2022 at the Department of National Defense (DND) Social Hall.

Outgoing PVAO Administrator, Undersecretary Ernesto G. Carolina, officially handed over the PVAO administration to USec. Mapagu in a ceremonial turnover of the office symbol, the PVAO flag.

In his Turnover Speech, USec. Carolina recounted the achievements of his 12- year administration, which significantly shaped the way PVAO presently caters to the overall welfare and wellbeing of the veterans—one of which is the formulation of the Kagitingan Roadmap 2028, the Agency’s long term strategic plan.

USec. Carolina also highlighted the ongoing priority projects of PVAO, such as the establishment of veterans wards in government hospitals; empowering the Filipino Veterans Community by unifying veterans organizations; and molding the country’s future defenders through “Love for Country” infrastructure projects and mainstreaming of the World War II history.

In closing, USec. Carolina affirmed that a better future for the veterans is within reach. “If President Fidel V. Ramos,
