    Grignon graduated from Sheridan College's esteemed animation program in , followed by a Bachelor's Degree in from New York Institute of Technology.

    After graduation, he worked in Europe as animator and Art Director for early 3D commercials and broadcast graphics. After moving back to the U.S. in , Grignon worked as a Senior Animator for Pacific Data Images (PDI) and co-founded their Character Animation Group with Tim Johnson.

    Grignon then worked with the Jim Henson Company for two years as a lead animator on MuppetVision3D and the Jim Henson Hour. In , Grignon joined Pixar to animate on Toy Story. After PDI was bought by DreamWorks animation the following year, Grignon returned to the newly formed PDI/DreamWorks as the Head of Character Animation on many films, including the Shrek and Madagascar franchises.
